---------------------------------------------------------------------------- FillOut Manager 1.02 by Peter Theill ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beginners Tutorial FillOut Manager (FOM) is a tool which will help you fill out e.g. Internet 'forms' in your browers (the fields you're able to enter text into). Start FOM by double-clicking the FOM icon. You're now able to type in your own data. To the left, you see the 'Groups' tree. This tree shows all your different 'categories' of data. You'll be able to add your own, by selecting menu Groups->New Group. Try to add a new group called 'Test': 1. Select Group->New Groups... 2. Type in the name 'Test' 3. Press 'enter' You'll now have a group in the tree called 'Test'. If you want to add some data to this group, just select it (it's probably already selected) and use 'New Data...' item from the 'Data' menu. Try to add three new data-items called 'test@somewhere.com', 'Peter Theill' and 'http://www.theill.com/' to the 'Test' group: 1. Select 'Test' Group from left tree 2. Select Data->New Data... 3. Type 'test@somewhere.com' 4. Select Data->New Data... 5. Type 'Peter Theill' 6. Press Ctrl+Insert 7. Type 'http://www.theill.com/' You'll now have three pieces of data in your 'Test' group. Note, that you're able to add data using a shortcut (item 6). Now for funny part! If you want to use this data, select it from the 'Data' view (right of 'Groups' view) and 'drag' these items into your browser. Drag 'test@somewhere.com' into a field in your browser. Press and hold left mousebutton. Move it into the field. Release the button. The data will be entered into the field. b a c k i n g u p y o u r d a t a There's currently no direct way to backup your data, but by using the Registry (RegEdit.Exe) you will be able to make a backup of all your groups. Do this: Open REGEDIT.EXE (Start->Run->RegEdit.exe) Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ConquerWare\FillOut Manager\Groups From the 'Registry'-menu, select 'Export Registry File...' Make sure you only export 'selected branch' Type in a name for your backup-file and press Save. Now, you will be able to restore your data simply by double-clicking on this file (.reg). r e a r r a n g i n g i t e m s Currently, you're not able to arrange items first inserted. New items will always be placed in the bottom of a group. If you want to arrange items in a specific order, you need to make a workaround. Do this: 1. Create a new temporary group. 2. Move all items you want to rearrange into the temporary group. 3. Now, move items from the temporary group back into your standard group in the order you want them to appear, e.g. if you want to have item 'jack', 'brian' and 'mike' in ascending order, first move 'brian', then 'jack' and finally 'mike'. This tutorial is a draft - please mail me back any suggestions you may have. Best regards, Peter Theill - 08/24/99
